Year 3

Welcome to Year 3 with Mrs Main

Resources

 Remote Learning

  welcome to Year 3.

Welcome to the Summer Term.

We all enjoyed the Science topics last term - especially finding out about earthworms!

In Science this term is 'Plants'. We will be carrying out a variety of investigations to find out what plants need to grow and what job each part of the plant does.  We will also be finding out about Living things, which involves finding out about different types of animals and what they need to survive.

Our Topic this term is 'Ancient Egypt'.  The children will love exploring maps to find out the interesting features of Egypt and investigating how the Egyptians lived and what they believed in.

One of the books we will be studying in English is 'The Egyptian Cinderella' which is related to our topic.  We will also be reading 'The Iron Man' and watching two films related to the book to discuss similarities and differences in types of media.

We will continue following the White Rose Maths scheme and will be looking at, among other things, Fractions, Time and Shapes.

Thanks for your continued support in these strange times.  Although I am finding it rewarding learning new technology, there may be slight glitches along the way.

Take care and stay safe.

Spellings will be given out on a Wednesday to practise ready for short dictation the following Wednesday.  Activities to help your child learn will be available on Purplemash.

 Things to Know:

Children will only need to bring a coat, snack, water bottle and diary into school.  They will be given a pencil case with all the resources they need to keep in school.  NO OTHER BAGS WILL BE ALLOWED IN SCHOOL.

Children will be greeted at the school gate and dismissed from the Year 3 cloakroom.

Year 3 will have PE on Monday and  Tuesdays  On these days they will come into school in their PE kit.  This is: black leggings or tracksuit bottoms, school PE shirt, school hoodie/jumper/cardigan and trainers.
