Design and Technology
"Design is a funny word. Some people think design means how it looks. But of course, if you look deeper, it's really how it works."
Steve Jobs
"Technology makes possibilities. Design makes solutions."

Intent
At St. Mary’s we aim to inspire children to be innovative and creative thinkers who have an appreciation for the product design process through designing, creating and evaluating. We want children to develop the confidence to take risks, through drafting design concepts, modelling, testing and to be reflective learners who evaluate their work and the work of others. We aim to build an awareness of the impact of Design & Technology on our lives and encourage pupils to become resourceful, enterprising citizens who will have the skills to contribute to the future design advancements.
We use Kapow Primary to support the teaching and learning of Design & Technology at St. Mary’s. This scheme of work provides a scaffolding for children to meet the end of key stage attainment targets in the National Curriculum.
We intend to inspire our children to be creative and innovative thinkers and give them the opportunity to flourish in our Design and Technology curriculum.
