Year 3

Welcome to Year 3 with Mrs Main

Resources

This term we are reading a variety of texts, including 'The Stone Age Boy ', 'How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth', 'Escape to Pompeii' and various other texts related to our topics.

Autumn Term - Our topic is 'Romans', which will include a visit to Wroxeter .  In Science we will be finding out about Forces and Magnets.  Our Science topic after half term will be Light and Dark.

Spring Term -  Our topic will be 'Extreme Earth'. Our Science topic will  Rocks. Visit information to follow.

Summer Term - Topics will be 'Egyptians' and Science will be Animals and then Plants.

PE days are  Wednesday and Friday.

Children will have English and Maths Home Learning to reinforce some of the topics we have covered during lesson time usually every other week.  They will have a list of spellings on Wednesday which they will write in their Spelling books and then glue the list into their diaries to practise at home, ready for a spelling test the following Wednesday.

Times tables practise will be on-going throughout the year.  It is also important for the children to know other number facts, especially number bonds to 10 and number bonds to 20, which will help the chidlren to develop their knowledge and speed during mental maths activities.

Moving from Key Stage One to Key Stage Two is a very important transition for children.  We expect them to become more independent and less reliant on adults to organise them.  With this in mind we need to work together to ensure the children become responsible for their belongings and certain aspects of their school life.

We will be visiting Forest School for Outdoor Learning usually every Friday afternoon. I will inform you by text as a reminder.

Any queries or problems, please feel free to see me or write in your child's diary
